Are textbooks overwhelming you? Are prices too high? Are you pursuing an Associate in Arts degree to transfer to a four-year college? Well, you might need the “R” Factor! The “R” Factor is an initiative to lighten the load of textbook costs for students. Register for an “R” section for a reduced-cost option for course material instead of purchasing a high-priced textbook. All “R” sections are part of an opportunity to receive an Associate in Arts degree while paying for low-cost course material. Read more about this initiative by visiting

For questions about “R” sections, please contact the Center for Transformative Learning (CTL). You can reach us at 336.734.7640. Please note that “R” sections require students to have access to the Internet in order to use Blackboard or Odigia.
